Module 12 · Medical Billing Job Readiness & Practical Case Simulation
Lesson 5 of 5

New-Hire Onboarding & Capstone Review

The final lesson turns the course into a practical onboarding framework. A new biller should know the organization's systems, payers, service lines, queue ownership, documentation standards and escalation paths before working accounts independently.

Intermediate26-30 minFree lesson

First 30 days

Week 1

Systems, privacy/security, practice structure, payer mix, terminology and observation.

Week 2

Guided work on low-risk queues with account-note review and daily feedback.

Week 3

Broader claim, denial and A/R scenarios with quality sampling.

Week 4

Independent work within defined limits, KPI review and targeted coaching.

Before independent production

  • Can the learner locate payer eligibility, claim status and remittance information?
  • Can they distinguish rejection, denial, correction and appeal workflows?
  • Can they document a complete account note?
  • Can they identify PHI/compliance risks?
  • Do they know which questions belong to coding, clinical, credentialing, contracting or compliance teams?

Capstone mindset

The full revenue cycle is connected. A denial may reveal an authorization issue; an A/R trend may reveal credentialing or claim-edit problems; a payment variance may reveal contract or posting issues. The job is to follow the evidence across the workflow.
